The assistant handles your internal working documents, and that sets the bar. It's designed so that your IT department, your data protection officer and your auditors can each say yes for their own reasons.
Your documents are stored and searched on servers in Germany, under a data processing agreement signed before you start. Videns assistent is a Danish company with no US parent. The answers are written by Anthropic's Claude in the USA, which receives only the question and the excerpts of your procedures the answer needs. The transfer rests on the EU standard contractual clauses, and your content is never used to train AI models. In the self-hosted version the model runs under your own AI account.
Not by us, and not by the model provider. That's in the contract, not a setting someone could switch on by mistake.
People only ever get answers from documents they're allowed to read. The filter is part of the search itself, so a document outside someone's access is never found and can't be summarised. Users and groups can come from your existing directory, such as Microsoft Entra ID.
When something goes wrong, the log records what failed and where, never the text involved. Questions are kept so your own managers can see what staff need, and they stay inside your organisation.
The assistant answers strictly from your approved documents and always shows the document, section and revision date. If they don't cover the question, it says so rather than coming up with something plausible.
In the browser, on phones, tablets and shared computers. Nothing to install and no app for IT to roll out. Open a link and you're away.
The self-hosted version is the same software with a licence key, on your own infrastructure and with your own AI account. Your documents stay on your own servers. Every release is tested before it ships and can be rolled back.
Because every answer carries its document, section and revision date, an auditor can see exactly what a member of staff was told on a given day, and from which version of which procedure.
The questions worth asking about any assistant like this: where is the data processed, who is the data controller, is access enforced before or after the model sees the document, is the text of the question stored, and can it run without a US provider? We've answered them above, so you can compare our answers with anyone else's.
